Abbey Church Grade I Listing
Friday 1st April 2016
We are pleased to announce that Ampleforth Abbey has been granted Grade I listing status following an upgrade by Historic England. Grade I buildings are of 'exceptional architectural and historical interest' and only 2.5% of listed buildings in England are Grade I.
Our peaceful Abbey Church acts as a landmark in an area of outstanding natural beauty. It has welcomed thousands of visitors from across the world and is the spiritual heart of our community. We are delighted it has been recognised for its architectural as well as spiritual importance and hope this will encourage many more to come and see for themselves.

Lay Community from Chile to help at Ampleforth College
28th August 2015
The monastic Community at Ampleforth Abbey is delighted to announce that a small group of members of the Manquehue Apostolic Movement will be settling as a community on the Ampleforth campus in early January 2016 to devote themselves to a two-year period of service in the schools, rather than the one-term visits that have been taking place since 2004.
